Demonstrating the continuity of China’s 5,000-year civilization is an academic topic that attracts the attention of hundreds of millions and carries profound contemporary significance. It also serves as a fundamental basis for China in formulating new development strategies and determining its path of development. To clarify the places and roles of cultural heritage sites scattered across the country in the origin of Chinese civilization, the author has comprehensively drawn upon the latest theoretical advancements and academic achievements from both domestic and international academic circles. The author has re-examined and redefined fundamental issues concerning the elements of origin, criteria for formation, and path of development of the China’s 5,000-year civilization.
