Oriental Publishing Co., Ltd (OPC) is a branch of China Publishing Group. OPC's predecessor, the Shanghai Branch of Encyclopedia of China Publishing House, was established on November 18, 1978. It changed to the present name on October 11, 1995. Over the more than 40 years since its establishment, OPC has not only published large-scale reference books such as the Encyclopedia of China, but also brought to prominence a series of writers, including Xiong Shili, Wang Yuanhua, Liu Zhihui, Feng Qi, Xie Zhiliu, Chen Peiqiu, Chen Zhongshi, Qian Liqun, Yu Qiuyu, Wang Anyi, William Nordhaus, Jia Kang, and Liang Xiaomin. OPC has won the National Book Award, China Book Award, China Publishing Government Award, China Excellent Publications Award, Lu Xun Literary Prize, Most Beautiful Books award, and Shanghai Book Award. OPC has taken literature and history books, economic and management books as its main publishing features.
