Du Mingxin
杜鸣心

Du Mingxin, born in Qianjiang, Hubei Province, is a professor in the Composition Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. In his early years, he studied at the Yucai School founded by Mr. Tao Xingzhi. He studied under He Luting, Fan Jisen, Li Guoquan, Lazarev (Russia) and other famous musicians. Later, he studied under the tutelage of Professor Chulaki at the Department of Composition of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Prof. Du’s major works include the Mermaid Suite, The Red Detachment of Women (in collaboration with Wu Zuqiang and others), and Piano Concerto No. 1/Spirit of Spring. He won the gold medal at the 1994 National Symphony Competition. In addition to symphony, Du is also interested in piano concerto, violin concerto, symphonic overture, symphonic poem, chamber music in small and medium combinations, chorus, solo, and film and television music. In a career that has now spanned decades, Du has been devoted himself to making great music.
