Introduction
This book is a compilation of five original field notes preserved by Ito Chuta (a famous Japanese architectural historian) during his visit to China from April 1902 to June of the next year. The book includes more than 900 hand-painted pictures, including buildings, cultural relics, customs and monuments, most of which are color pictures. Some of the buildings have been damaged due to wars and natural disasters, and some of them have not been restored to their original appearance. The hand-painted notes of Ito Chuta are rare historical records of Chinese architectural relics.
