Compiled by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the book gathers 100 family letters and last words written by martyrs, which were collected from over 20 museums including the National Museum of China, The Military Museum of The Chinese People’s Revolution, The Museum of the War of Chinese People’s Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Nanjing Yuhuatai Martyrs Memorial Hall and the Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary Museum. The letters are presented in chronological order with a time span from 1921 to 2018. These martyrs sacrificed their lives to gain China’s independence since the inception of the New Democratic Revolution in 1919 or stood out as models in the development of the country since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Some of them were senior officials in the CPC while others were ordinary party members. Full of faith and passion for a better China, the letters remind readers of the grand journey of the CPC over the past century in leading its people to gain independence, liberation and prosperity of the country.
