International Digital City portrays the realities of Shanghai that is practicing the philosophy of building a digital city for the people. It presents the development trend of digital city in the new era, as well as Shanghai’s experience and China’s achievements. At the preparation stage, nearly 1,000 questions were collected among the mass across the various sectors in Shanghai. Among them, a number of subjects on digital urban transformation and construction most concerned by the public are selected and interpreted in an exhaustive, relatable, comprehensible manner by Editor-in-Chiefs Dr. Zhang Lili (a pioneer of China’s Internet sector and Secretary-General of Shanghai Overseas Economics and Technology Promotion Association) and Prof. Lu Lei (Secretary-General of Shanghai Information Services Association), as well as a dozen of economists and researchers working in digital transformation. The book is guided by the Informatization Promotion Division (Big Data Development Division) of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization.
