The expert team of this publishing project elaborately selected 45 representative historical folksongs (traditional folksongs, revolutionary folksongs and new folksongs). For each work, photos presenting its cultural background, historical background and music notations are provided to illustrate its origin and evolution, thus visualizing the prevailing feature of Northern Shaanxi in the Chinese revolutionary time and the New Era. The folksongs are grouped in three chapters: “The East is Red”, “Here Come The Guerrillas From Mount Hengshan” and “Red Lilies Crimson and Bright”, each titled after a famous folksong.
