As a senior editor and the deputy director of the overseas edition of People’s Daily, the newspaper of the Communist Party of China, Yang Yifeng left his post in Beijing as part of an initiative that assigns urban cadres to impoverished communities to apply their expertise and bring a fresh perspective to the poverty alleviation program.
