The COVID-19 pandemic strongly impacted the global economy in 2020 and will have a profound and far-reaching influence on China and the world. We couldn't help but think: what kind of society should we create to deal with the uncertain crises in an age of uncertainty? Chances are greater to overcome a crisis when we respond to it with resiliency. Only a resilient society would be able to respond to crises with ease and without panic. A society needs resilience, as does a country, a business, an organization, a community, and even each individual. It is thus of great significance to build a highly resilient system for achieving high-quality development of the country, successful transformation of companies, and enhanced mental resilience of individuals. In his speech at the grand gathering on the 40th anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone establishment on October 14, 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that "China is at a critical period in realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Also, he said that China's economy has shifted from a stage of high-speed growth to that of high-quality development. With strong development resilience, China is forming a new development paradigm with domestic circulation as the mainstay with domestic and international circulations reinforcing each other."
