This book is one of the Tea Source Geography series. Located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, Ya’an features a humid climate with rich rainfalls, which is very suitable for the growth of tea trees. Ya’an has been a tea producer since ancient times. During the Western Han Dynasty, Wu Lizhen, known as the Father of Tea, planted seven tea trees on Mengding Mountain in Ya’an, pioneering tea cultivation. In the first year of Tianbao era of the Tang Dynasty (742), Mengding Tea became a tribute to the emperor until the Qing Dynasty. With Mengding Mountain, a holy mountain of tea, as the starting point, an Ancient Tea-Horse Road stretched from Sichuan to Tibet. Over the centuries, Ya’an gave birth to the tea culture and has witnessed the overseas journey of its various tea species.
